For the Gatsby Careers Guidelines - A careers assembly lasting around 20-25 minutes (including short clip) with a focus on why Careers Education is so important and how students can make the most of all the opportunities presented to them whilst in school. The assembly examines the cases of two fictional ex-students, Alisha and Jack, who didn’t take Careers Education seriously and ended up paying the price for it by adding years on to their lives in the time it took them to eventually find their ideal jobs. An assembly all about the impact that random acts of kindness can have. It explores why we need to be kind to each other, the effect small acts can have on our family, friends and the wider communities and in turn our own emotional wellbeing. The assembly lasts around 20 minutes, including a short clip. As part of the assembly you will need to place three Post-Its randomly where the children will sit. You will be calling those three students who sit on a Post-It up to give them a small gift (perhaps a tube of Smarties).You will then ask them questions about how they feel - this is to show the impact of an act of kindness when people aren’t expecting it (which scientists have shown to have more impact than if they are). The assembly is very easy to follow (and has additional teacher notes in the slide-notes of the PowerPoint). It is also editable.
